MTU Students Visit Conack’s Marina Depot Project in Cork

Conack was delighted to welcome students and staff from Munster Technological University to our Marina Depot development in Cork recently. The MTU Marina Depot site visit gave students the chance to experience a live construction project and see how modern building techniques work in practice.
Visits like this help bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world project delivery.
Learning on a Live Construction Site
During the MTU Marina Depot site visit, students toured the site and observed the progress of the development. Our project team explained how different disciplines work together to deliver a large residential project.
Students also gained insight into site coordination, construction sequencing and project management. Seeing these processes first-hand provides valuable context that cannot always be replicated in the classroom.
Exploring Modern Methods of Construction
A key focus of the MTU Marina Depot site visit was demonstrating Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) and offsite construction. These approaches are becoming increasingly important across the construction sector.
MMC can improve efficiency, quality and sustainability. It also helps projects progress safely and more efficiently.
By seeing these systems in action, students gained a better understanding of how innovative construction methods support modern project delivery.
Supporting the Next Generation of Construction Professionals
Conack would like to thank our project partners Glenveagh Properties for supporting the visit and helping make the day a success.
Engaging with universities and students is an important part of supporting the future of the construction industry. Site visits like the MTU Marina Depot site visit provide valuable learning opportunities and help inspire the next generation of engineers and construction professionals.
We were delighted to host the visit and look forward to welcoming more students to our projects in the future.
