Conack Commence Works on Westport House and Estate Redevelopment

Conack was proud to mark the official start of the Westport House and Estate redevelopment with a sod-turning ceremony in Co. Mayo. The event celebrated a major milestone for this ambitious heritage and tourism project at one of Ireland’s best-known visitor destinations.
We were delighted to welcome Alan Dillon TD, Minister of State at the Department of Enterprise, Tourism and Employment, together with local TD Ciara Keogh, the Hughes Family, Fáilte Ireland and our project partners to celebrate this important milestone. The ceremony brought together the client, design team, project partners, stakeholders and invited guests to mark the beginning of construction.
Protecting Heritage and Enhancing the Visitor Experience
The Westport House and Estate redevelopment will combine careful conservation with new and improved visitor facilities. The works will protect the historic character of the estate while creating a more accessible, engaging and sustainable destination.
The wider development will include the restoration of important heritage buildings, upgraded public areas and enhanced visitor attractions. It will also improve connections throughout the site and strengthen the overall experience for visitors of all ages.
As a result, the project will support the long-term future of Westport House while respecting its architectural, cultural and landscape heritage.
Conack Marks the Start of Construction
Conack Joint Managing Director Tom O’Connor and Regional Director Mike Hession attended the ceremony on behalf of the company. They joined the wider project team to celebrate the start of this important development.
As main contractor, Conack is proud to deliver the project alongside the client, design team and specialist partners. Close coordination and strong collaboration will remain central as works progress across the site.
Supporting Tourism in the West of Ireland
The commencement of works marks an exciting new chapter for Westport House. Once complete, the development will enhance a nationally recognised visitor attraction and support the continued growth of tourism in Westport and the wider region.
Furthermore, the project will create long-term value by improving visitor facilities, supporting local employment and strengthening the area’s tourism offering.
We look forward to working with everyone involved to bring this significant redevelopment to life.
