This project for Westair Aviation, a leading provider of private jet handling services and facilities, at Shannon Airport involved alterations and refurbishment to existing buildings at the south-east corner of the airport complex.
They comprised a full bay extension to existing hangar, involving piled foundations, structural steel, cladding, hangar doors and mechanical and electrical installations.
The extension is on the southern side of the existing hangar and brought the building to within four metres of the boundary fence.
As the site is ‘airside, access was via a temporary gate through the boundary fence off the Airport Road and required strict supervision and permissions. The works were carried out in a live environment, with day-to-day activity at the site continuing while works were ongoing.
